- Mauro Di Silvestre
Mauro Di Silvestre was born in Rome in 1968. He studied painting in Los Angeles and Rome. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the Premio Città di Lissone (MI) in 2001, where he won second prize; the exhibition Pagine Nere (2003) at Fabio Sargentini’s Galleria L’Attico in Rome; and Faccia a Faccia in Vitulano (BN), where he was invited by curator Lorenzo Canova. He took part in the first edition of the Premio Celeste (2004), curated by Gianluca Marziani, winning the prize in the Emerging Painters category. In 2005, he was invited by Fabio Sargentini of L’Attico to participate in the painting and photography exhibition Forza Motrice, held in the historic depots of the Roman company Trambus, and again at L’Attico in Rome with the group show Pittori al Muro, curated by Marco Tonelli. In 2007, he participated in On the Edge of Vision at the Victoria Memorial Museum in Calcutta, curated by Lorenzo Canova. In 2011, he was invited to an artist residency in Hangzhou by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and to Seoul for Five Cities Five Curators, a traveling exhibition curated by Alberto Dambruoso. In the summer of 2015, he took part in Mare Motus, another important exhibition featuring international artists at the Castle of Lipari in the Aeolian Islands, curated by Lea Mattarella and Lorenzo Zichichi. His first solo exhibition took place in 2007 at Galleria Z2o in Rome. In the same summer, he presented Lontano da casa, a solo show at Spazio Millesimato in Montalcino, curated by Graziella Lonardi Buontempo and Giancarlo Buontempo. Between 2007 and 2008, he worked for a private dealer in New York. Upon his return, he participated in the 15th Quadriennale di Roma by invitation of Lorenzo Canova. His solo exhibitions continued: in 2009 with Pareti Parati e Parenti at Galleria Il Traghetto in Venice, curated by Martina Cavallarin; in 2011 with Simultaneità degli opposti at Galleria Bianca in Palermo, curated by Maria Chiara Valacchi; in 2013 with Sedia Sediola in Naples at Galleria Cellamare Int. 56; and in 2015 in Rome at Galleria Z2o. In May 2016, Please, his first solo exhibition in Switzerland, was held at Galerie L&C Tirelli in Vevey. In May 2017, he inaugurated the dual exhibition Nel Fondo Del Tempo together with artist Francesco Cervelli at Mucciaccia Contemporary Gallery. In July 2022, he was invited by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan to take part in an artist residency, where he created a work that is now part of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Baku. In 2023, he was invited to the exhibition La Natura delle Cose at PRAC in Ponzano Romano. His most recent solo exhibition took place in 2025 at the architecture studio Spazio Mala in Rome, titled In Equilibrio tra le stelle. He has collaborated with public and private academies of fine arts and has conducted workshops and masterclasses for Italian and international students. He has also worked with directors in cinema, theatre, and television series. He continues to exhibit in numerous galleries and museums both in Italy and abroad. He lives in Rome.
